Daily task board

Splits today's tasks fairly across the people on shift and tracks each one from assigned to done.

Open the tool

What it does

I built the first version from my own time on a hotel housekeeping floor, where the morning board decided whether the day was fair. The same idea works for any crew that splits a list of tasks every morning.

Who can use it

  • Supervisors
  • Team leads
  • Small operations teams

Where it fits

  • Hotel housekeeping
  • Commercial cleaning rounds
  • Store tasks such as restocking
  • Maintenance work orders

How to use it

  1. List today's tasks with a rough time for each
  2. List who's on shift
  3. Let it balance the work, then adjust by hand
  4. Mark tasks done as the day goes

Limitations

  • It saves on one device, so a team sharing it needs one screen
  • It balances by time, not by location or walking distance

What's next

  • Shared board across phones
  • Grouping by floor or area to cut walking

Run it on your own data

  1. In the browser (today)Free, no sign-up. What you enter stays on your device. Good for trying it and for small teams.
  2. On your files or databasePoint the same logic at your exports or a database view (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Azure SQL or DuckDB), on your own machine or network.
  3. As a pipeline and warehouseA scheduled ETL job pulls from your systems (reservations, point of sale, inventory, payroll) into a star-schema warehouse, runs data-quality checks, and the tool or a Power BI report reads the result every morning.

What that adds here

  • A small database lets the whole team update the same board from their phones
  • Task history shows real times per task to improve the estimates

How I'd set it up for you

I'd map your exports or database to the tool's model, package the job in a container that runs on your server or cloud account, add the checks your data needs, and hand over the code and a runbook. Your data stays on your systems. Get in touch if you'd like it fitted to your business.
