I’m Nihal. I studied physics first: a BSc at Government Victoria College and an MSc at CUSAT in India, majoring in astrophysics. In October 2026 I finished a Master’s in Data Analytics at the University of Niagara Falls Canada. In between, I spent five years as a content writer turning science and technology into clear writing, and since moving to Canada I’ve worked in hotel housekeeping in Niagara Falls.
That mix is why I care about data that changes a decision. In astrophysics you model things you can never touch. On a hotel floor you see what happens when the schedule doesn’t match the arrivals. Data analytics is where the two meet.
What this blog covers
- Building BI work end to end. Warehouses, data-quality checks, dashboards and the pipelines that feed them, mostly with hotel data, because that’s the industry I know from the inside.
- Kaggle write-ups. What I tried, what the leaderboard said, and what my own validation said when the two disagreed.
- Mistakes and what they cost. The first real post is about using a month of GitHub Actions minutes in one evening.
How I write
Every number has a source. If a score came from someone else’s public notebook, I say so. If my own idea didn’t beat the baseline, I say that too. I think that’s more useful to read, and it’s the only kind of portfolio I’d want to hire from.
If you’re hiring for data or BI roles in Ontario, my CV is here and I’m on LinkedIn.
